Why Korydian exists.

Korydian did not start on a whiteboard. The first version ran in a shop that sold in four places at once and knew in none of them what the other three were doing. Two tills, a marketplace, an online shop. Four versions of the truth about the same box of stock.

Anyone who has run that knows what follows. A product is still listed online and has been off the shelf for a week. A price gets cut in one place and keeps running in three others. At the end of the month the count is wrong and nobody can say where the pieces went.

A nicer interface does not fix that. What fixes it is a record you can look into. So every stock change is booked instead of overwritten, and prices are computed from rules you can read back afterwards. A guard checks every minute whether the channels still say the same thing.

Every part of Korydian came out of a working day rather than a requirements list. You can tell, for better and for worse. What the shop needs daily is built thoroughly. What nobody has needed yet does not exist.

We keep building while that operation runs, which is why we take on a small number of retailers at a time.
